Double Cleansing: The Purifying Solution to Impurities

Your face encounters two types of impurities daily:

  1. Oil-based substances like excess sebum, sunscreen and makeup
  2. Water-based substances like old skin cells, dust, bacteria and perspiration

Your skin gets oily too throughout the day — with or without makeup. Even if you are not using makeup, using a cleanser will remove pollutants, sunscreen, bacteria, and excessive sebum from your face.

Double cleansing is the detoxifying solution your skin needs

No other cleanse can truly address the duo of impurities. How does it work?

First, use an oil-based cleanser like freeplus oil serum cleansing to uproot oil-based substances, prying them to the skin surface. Creams also do the trick, so you can also opt for freeplus mild cream cleanser.

Once impurities reach the skin’s surface, lather freeplus mild soap’s cream into a fluffy foam to envelop them and wash away gently, while keeping the skin moisturized.

For the lazy ones, there’s freeplus mild moisture soap which dispenses instant foam! Pretty good for a quick morning/night wash when you’re just not so into spending too much time at the sink.

Make the Most of Your Double Cleanse

Step 1: Cleanser

  1. Apply a suitable portion freeplus cleanser to your dry hands and face.
Using a cleansing cream? Just a dab of 2.5 cm in diameter (about 3 g) will do. Cleansing oil? Pump two to three times (about 2–3 ml).
  2. Apply cleanser to five focus-areas: the forehead, each cheek, the ridge of the nose and the chin.
  3. Follow it up with a gentle massage in a circular motion, dissolving and drawing out those impurities from deep within the skin.
  4. Thoroughly rinse with lukewarm water.

*Be careful when cleansing lipstick and eye makeup. Sensitive areas like your lips and eyes demand the gentle touch of a dedicated makeup cleanser.

Step 2: Facial Soap

  1. For freeplus’s creamy mild soap, dispense just a touch (about 2 cm in diameter, or 2 g) on your hands, add a bit of water, then work up a fluffly foam ball in your palm.
  2. In a circular motion, massage this foam cushion over the face.
  3. Spend a little extra time on the forehead and sides of the nose, and areas prone to sebum secretion.
  4. Rinse gently.

*Remember to massage gently. Pressing or rubbing too hard may irritate the skin, causing roughness or dark spots.

free tip:
A good rinse is an essential final step, but water temperature is important too. The ideal temperature is 36 to 39˚C. Water too hot will tighten and dry the skin, while water too cold will close up the pores and trap residual lather inside.

Carefully wash the hairline, where lather is likely to remain. Be sure to rinse carefully, as residue can cause breakouts, a definite big NO!
